A few weeks ago I somehow managed to avoid my usual full weekends of lunches with beers and decadent dinners out. It was by complete accident that I woke up on Monday morning thin. Now if you’re anything like me, when you wake up in the morning you do a quick assessment of your belly. Will you be having a fat day or a skinny day today? And it determines how much energy you’ll have to expend making yourself feel good about yourself. Some people feel this way about a good hair day, but for me, a skinny day trumps a good hair day. It also helps that I have amazing hair.
Well damned if that Monday wasn’t the most joyfully productive day I had had in a while. The rest of the week followed suit and you can bet your ass I lost weight that week. And that’s when it hit me.
My goal should be to feel skinny by Monday.
Not because I’ll lose weight on Friday when I step on the scale. Not because I want to look good in a dress at a wedding filled with beautiful people in a couple of months. But because I’ll feel good about myself. And I’ll take the descending scale and the great pictures I’ll take at that beautiful people wedding as a bonus.
So. Here we are Sunday morning. You’ve just spent the past two evenings with cocktails and beers and fun times. What do you need to do today to feel skinny by Monday?
I’ll give you a hint-it probably involves sweating and drinking water. That’s what I’ll be doing anyway.
A special note: A big thank you to everyone reading thus far and to all of you who shared your own stories with me. The outpouring of support and excitement has been tremendous and you have lit a fire in my belly. That or I need to eat something. Either way, I’ll do my best not to let you down.
